About the Dairy Factory
The Dairy Factory (Mejeriet) is a self-organised, activist-driven platform that has been working since March 2020 to build a social centre slash culture house slash workshop community in the old dairy in Øster Skerninge.

ORGANISATION
The Dairy Factory is run by the volunteer association Åkilde Værkstedsfællesskab. There are many ways to be and become active, at different levels of involvement, both in connection with open shared spaces and in more specialised workshops or working groups.
In practice, we make collective decisions democratically at monthly meeting and at the annual general meetings. The common meetings, like the association itself, function as an umbrella for various working groups and user-managed workshops, which are allowed to operate autonomously.
We want to make space for communities, associations, individuals, and businesses we feel aligned with. What unites us is not organisational form, but that we work for values rather than profit.
VALUES
The Dairy Factory seeks to create space for:
- commons, knowledge-sharing, and mutual aid
- activities that promote forms of cooperation and production based on shared ownership, autonomy, and direct democracy
- practices that challenge gendered divisions of labour and actively oppose sexism, racism, and other forms of structural discrimination
- system-critical, exploratory, and utopian thinking, and the transformation of this thinking into practice
